Two humbuckers · Toggle · Two volumes · Two tones

Bare Knuckle's wiring for two 4-conductor humbuckers: 3-way toggle, two 550k volumes and two 550k tones, a 0.015 µF neck tone cap and a 0.022 µF bridge tone cap. Transcribed from the manufacturer wiring sheet and checked against the engine.

- Bridge tone 0.022uF: 0.022µF capacitor (Bare Knuckle alu/paper/oil); 22nF; compatible example (TAD Mustard .022µF)
- Output jack: Jack Socket (Standard jack socket); generic (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge ground wire: Bridge Ground Wire; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Bare Knuckle four-conductor colour code as drawn: red is hot, black and bare go to ground, and green and white stay soldered together and covered in heat shrink.
- BKP/CTS 550K pots for both volumes and both tones; a 0.015 µF capacitor on the neck tone and a 0.022 µF capacitor on the bridge tone.
- Each pickup's red and its tone capacitor share the volume's outer lug; the toggle wire takes the volume's middle lug, and the capacitor's other leg goes to the tone's middle lug.
- The jack's ground lug carries only the sheet's ground symbol, which its key explains as 'Usually soldered to rear of volume pot'.
- The sheet runs a bridge ground wire to the back of the bridge tone pot.

## Connections

1. Neck pickup black → Neck volume casing (case, black): 'Black & Bare' runs up to the solder joint on the left of the neck volume.
2. Neck pickup bare → Neck volume casing (shield, bare)
3. Bridge pickup black → Bridge volume casing (case, black): 'Black & Bare' runs up to the solder joint at the bottom of the bridge volume.
4. Bridge pickup bare → Bridge volume casing (shield, bare)
5. Neck volume lug 1 → Neck volume casing (case, black): Lug bent onto the casing; the black square marks the solder.
6. Neck tone lug 1 → Neck tone casing (case, black): Lower lug bent onto the casing with a black square.
7. Bridge volume lug 1 → Bridge volume casing (case, black)
8. Bridge tone lug 1 → Bridge tone casing (case, black): Lower lug bent onto the casing with a black square; the top lug is hollow and unused.
9. Toggle frame lug (Tag 4) → Neck volume casing (case, black): Thin black wire looping left to the neck volume casing joint.
10. Neck volume casing → Bridge volume lug 1 (wire, black): Dotted ground line.
11. Bridge volume lug 1 → Bridge tone casing (case, black): Dotted ground line.
12. Bridge tone casing → Neck tone casing (case, black): Dotted ground line.
13. Bridge Ground Wire → Bridge tone casing (case, black): Dotted line labelled 'Bridge Ground Wire'.
14. Jack socket ground lug → Neck volume casing (case, black): The sheet draws a ground symbol here, not a wire (see transformations).
15. Toggle Tag 1 → Neck volume lug 2 (wire, grey)
16. Toggle Tag 2 → Bridge volume lug 2 (wire, grey)
17. Toggle output tag (Tag 3) → Jack socket signal lug (wire, grey): Grey wire along the top to the jack lug that carries no ground symbol.
18. Neck pickup green → Neck pickup white (insulated, green): Green and white end in one black heat-shrink tip ('Green & White, See Key'): soldered together and insulated.
19. Neck pickup red → Neck volume lug 3 (wire, red): The volume's lugs point right in this back view, so the lower lug is lug 3 and the top lug, bent onto the casing, is lug 1.
20. Bridge pickup green → Bridge pickup white (insulated, green): Green and white end in one black heat-shrink tip ('Green & White, See Key').
21. Bridge pickup red → Bridge volume lug 3 (wire, red)
22. Neck volume lug 3 → Neck 0.015µF capacitor (wire, black)
23. Neck 0.015µF capacitor → Neck tone lug 2 (wire, black): The tone's lugs point left, so its middle lug is the wiper; the top lug is drawn hollow and left unused.
24. Bridge volume lug 3 → Bridge 0.022µF capacitor (wire, black)
25. Bridge 0.022µF capacitor → Bridge tone lug 2 (wire, black)

## What each position does

- Toggle 1 · neck: Neck humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils). Source: The sheet lists '1. Bridge, 2. Bridge & Neck in Parallel, 3. Neck'; the board numbers the toggle from the neck side, so its position 1 is the sheet's position 3. The grey wire from Tag 1 goes to the neck volume's wiper, from Tag 2 to the bridge volume's wiper.
- Toggle 2 · both: Neck humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils) and Bridge humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils) in parallel.
- Toggle 3 · bridge: Bridge humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils).

- The sheet does not print a pot taper; the simulator treats the pots as linear.
- The capacitors are value matches for the sheet's Bare Knuckle paper-in-oil caps, not the same parts.
- The Bare Knuckle pickup definitions are unverified catalog entries.
