# Andy Timmons AT model: three humbuckers on a five-way Super Switch

Canonical page: https://guitarwiring.app/wiring-diagrams/dimarzio/andy-timmons-at-model-five-way-super-switch

Two single-size humbuckers, one bridge humbucker · Five-way Super Switch · One volume · Two tones

DiMarzio's Andy Timmons (Ibanez AT) harness: Cruiser Bridge pickups in the neck and middle and an AT-1 in the bridge on a four-pole five-way Super Switch. The bridge splits when it is paired with the middle. A 500K custom-taper volume carries a 330pF capacitor; one 500K tone serves the neck and middle, a second serves the bridge alone, each with a .022 µF capacitor.

## Specific to this wiring

- The 5-way switch is wired: Position 1 = Neck; Position 2 = Neck & Middle; Position 3 = Middle; Position 4 = Middle & Bridge Split; Position 5 = Bridge.
- The sheet counts positions from the neck; the simulator counts them from the bridge, so the sheet's position 1 is simulator position 5.
- On the neck and middle pickups the black and white leads are joined and insulated; each joint touches nothing else.
- The bridge pickup's black and white leads go together to one switch tag, which is grounded only in the middle-and-bridge position.
- The bridge tone works only in the bridge position; the neck/middle tone works in the other four.
- The Super Switch tags are not labelled in the source, so they are mapped by what each does against the catalog contact table.
- The source specifies 500K custom-taper pots. The simulator treats them as linear, so settings between the knob ends are approximate.

## What each position does

- Bridge: Bridge pickup (AT-1 DP224) (both coils). Source: Sheet position 5 = Bridge; the bridge tone is active.
- Middle and bridge split: Middle pickup (Cruiser Bridge DP187) (both coils) and Bridge pickup (AT-1 DP224) (split to one coil) in parallel. Source: Sheet position 4 = Middle & Bridge Split.
- Middle: Middle pickup (Cruiser Bridge DP187) (both coils). Source: Sheet position 3 = Middle.
- Neck and middle: Neck pickup (Cruiser Bridge DP187) (both coils) and Middle pickup (Cruiser Bridge DP187) (both coils) in parallel. Source: Sheet position 2 = Neck & Middle.
- Neck: Neck pickup (Cruiser Bridge DP187) (both coils). Source: Sheet position 1 = Neck.

- The source's custom-taper pots are not reproduced: they are simulated with a linear track, so settings between the knob ends are approximate.
- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic humbucker models, not measured Cruiser or AT-1 pickups; the single-size stacked Cruiser is modelled as a two-coil humbucker.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each position the meter across the jack should read the pickups listed; in the middle-and-bridge position the bridge should read about half its full value.
- The upper-row left-end switch tag should read to ground only in the middle-and-bridge position.
- Each insulated black–white joint on the neck and middle pickups should read open to ground.
