Two humbuckers · Right-angle three-way toggle · Two volumes · Two tones

DiMarzio's Randy Rhoads Sandoval Dot V 1979 layout: neck and bridge humbuckers, each with its own 500K custom-taper volume and tone and a .047 µF capacitor, joined at a right-angle three-way toggle. Each pickup's red lead lands on its volume's middle lug.

## Specific to this wiring

- The source gives no position legend; the toggle is read by function: neck, both, bridge.
- On each pickup, the black and white leads are joined and insulated.
- Each pickup's red lead goes to its volume's middle lug (wiper) and the toggle is fed from the volume's outer lug, as drawn.
- The toggle has two common lugs joined by a short jumper; both run to the jack tip.
- A ground lead runs from the bridge tone casing to the bridge claw (TO BRIDGE CLAW).
- The source specifies 500K custom-taper pots. The simulator treats them as linear, so settings between the knob ends are approximate.

## Connections

1. Neck GREEN → Neck volume casing (case, green)
2. Neck BARE → Neck volume casing (shield, bare)
3. Bridge GREEN → Bridge volume casing (case, green)
4. Bridge BARE → Bridge volume casing (shield, bare)
5. Neck volume casing → Neck volume top lug (case, black)
6. Neck volume top lug → Neck tone casing (case, black)
7. Neck .047µF capacitor → Neck tone casing (case)
8. Neck tone casing → Bridge tone casing (case, black): Runs down the right side.
9. Bridge volume casing → Bridge volume top lug (case, black)
10. Bridge volume top lug → Bridge tone casing (case, black)
11. Bridge .047µF capacitor → Bridge tone casing (case)
12. TO BRIDGE CLAW → Bridge tone casing (shield, black): Leaves from the capacitor's casing solder point.
13. Bridge tone casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
14. Toggle middle lug (frame) → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
15. Neck volume bottom lug → Toggle top outer lug (wire): Drawn light gray; it passes the bridge leads with a gap (no joint).
16. Bridge volume bottom lug → Toggle bottom outer lug (wire): Drawn light gray.
17. Toggle commons (jumpered) → Jack tip (wire): Drawn dark gray.
18. Neck BLACK → Neck WHITE (insulated, black): Joined and insulated.
19. Neck RED → Neck volume middle lug (wire, red)
20. Bridge BLACK → Bridge WHITE (insulated, black): Joined and insulated.
21. Bridge RED → Bridge volume middle lug (wire, red)
22. Neck volume bottom lug → Neck tone bottom lug (wire): Drawn dark gray.
23. Neck tone middle lug → Neck .047µF capacitor (wire)
24. Bridge volume bottom lug → Bridge tone bottom lug (wire): Drawn dark gray.
25. Bridge tone middle lug → Bridge .047µF capacitor (wire)

## What each position does

- Rhythm (neck): Neck pickup (both coils). Source: Neck volume feeds the toggle's neck lug.
- Both: Neck pickup (both coils) and Bridge pickup (both coils) in parallel. Source: Both volumes reach the jack together.
- Treble (bridge): Bridge pickup (both coils). Source: Bridge volume feeds the toggle's bridge lug.

- The source's 500K custom taper is not reproduced: all four pots are simulated with a linear track, so settings between the knob ends are approximate.
- The DP103 and DP100 are simulated as generic humbuckers; hum cancelling and phase describe the generic models, not measured DiMarzio pickups.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each toggle position, the meter across the jack should read the selected pickup, or both in parallel in the middle.
- Turning one volume fully down should mute only that pickup in the middle position.
- Each taped black–white joint should read open to ground.
