Two humbuckers · Toggle · Two volumes · Two tones

Lollar's Les Paul 50s wiring for two 4-conductor humbuckers: 3-way toggle, two 500k volumes and two 500k tones with .022 µF caps on the volume wipers. Transcribed from the manufacturer wiring sheet and checked against the engine.

- Bridge ground wire: Bridge Wire to Ground; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Lollar four-conductor colour code: black is hot, red and white are the tap (joined together and taped off), green and bare are ground.
- 500k pots for volume and tone; the sheet recommends .022 µF tone capacitors.
- 50s tone wiring: each capacitor runs from its volume's middle lug to the tone's end lug, and the tone's middle lug is grounded.
- The sheet runs a bridge ground wire to the back of the neck tone pot ('Bridge Wire to Ground').

## Connections

1. Neck humbucker green → Neck volume casing (case, green): Green runs down with the bare lead to the left solder dot on the neck volume.
2. Neck humbucker bare → Neck volume casing (shield, bare)
3. Bridge humbucker green → Bridge volume casing (case, green): Green curves right with the bare lead to the left solder dot on the bridge volume.
4. Bridge humbucker bare → Bridge volume casing (shield, bare)
5. Neck volume lug 1 → Neck volume casing (case, black): Thin line from the right lug up to the lower-right solder dot on the casing.
6. Neck volume casing → Neck tone lug 2 (wire, black): On the sheet the same bare line continues from the neck volume's lug 1 to the neck tone's middle lug; drawn from the casing, the same ground node (see transformations).
7. Neck tone lug 2 → Neck tone casing (case, black)
8. Bridge volume lug 1 → Bridge volume casing (case, black)
9. Bridge volume casing → Bridge tone lug 2 (wire, black): On the sheet the same bare line continues from the bridge volume's lug 1 to the bridge tone's middle lug; drawn from the casing, the same ground node (see transformations).
10. Bridge tone lug 2 → Bridge tone casing (case, black)
11. Toggle lead 'Ground' (Tag 5) → Neck volume casing (case, black): Large solder dot on the right of the neck volume.
12. Output jack lug 'Ground' → Neck volume casing (case, black): Round the bottom and up the right edge to the same large solder dot.
13. Bridge tone casing → Neck tone casing (case, black)
14. Bridge Wire to Ground → Neck tone casing (case, black): Large solder dot on the neck tone.
15. Toggle lead 'Neck' (Tag 1) → Neck volume lug 2 (wire, black)
16. Toggle lead 'Bridge' (Tag 2) → Bridge volume lug 2 (wire, black): Hops over the neck pickup cable without joining it.
17. Toggle Tag 3 → Toggle Tag 4 (wire, white): Short bar joining the two centre tags.
18. Toggle Tag 3 → Output jack lug 'Hot' (wire, white): Hops over both ground wires; no junctions.
19. Neck humbucker red → Neck humbucker white (insulated, red): Red and white end together in one hatched (taped) tip below the cable: joined and insulated.
20. Neck humbucker black → Neck volume lug 3 (wire, black): Black runs left and down into the neck volume's left lug (lug 3 in this back view, lugs pointing down).
21. Bridge humbucker red → Bridge humbucker white (insulated, red): Red and white end together in one hatched (taped) tip below the cable: joined and insulated.
22. Bridge humbucker black → Bridge volume lug 3 (wire, black): Black runs down the left side and into the bridge volume's left lug (lug 3).
23. Neck volume lug 2 → Neck .022uF capacitor (wire, black)
24. Neck .022uF capacitor → Neck tone lug 1 (wire, black): The tone's lugs point up on the sheet, so its left lug is lug 1.
25. Bridge volume lug 2 → Bridge .022uF capacitor (wire, black)
26. Bridge .022uF capacitor → Bridge tone lug 1 (wire, black)

## What each position does

- Toggle 1 · neck: Neck humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils). Source: Written from the drawn wiring: the toggle lead labelled 'Neck' to the neck volume's middle lug, the lead labelled 'Bridge' to the bridge volume's middle lug, the two centre tags joined and run to the jack lug labelled 'Hot'; red and white joined and taped on both pickups.
- Toggle 2 · both: Neck humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils) and Bridge humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils) in parallel.
- Toggle 3 · bridge: Bridge humbucker (4-conductor) (both coils).

- Pot tapers are not printed on the sheet; the simulator treats the pots as linear.
- The Lollar pickup definitions are unverified catalog entries.
