Humbucker · Single coil · Humbucker · 5-way blade · Push/pull volume (coil split)

Seymour Duncan sheet: humbuckers in the neck and bridge and a single coil in the middle on a 5-way blade, with a 250k (or 500k) push/pull volume that splits both humbuckers and no tone. The neck humbucker's green and bare are not drawn on the current sheet and are added per Seymour Duncan's colour-code sheet and the 2006 original of the one-tone sibling.

## Specific to this wiring

- Title: 1 HUMBUCKER \| 1 SINGLE COIL 1 HUMBUCKER \| 1 VOLUME (push/pull coil split) 5 WAY BLADE.
- ADDED FROM OTHER SEYMOUR DUNCAN SOURCES: the current sheet does not draw the neck humbucker's green or bare lead. Seymour Duncan's colour-code sheet (Seymour Duncan pickup colour-code sheet, https://www.seymourduncan.com/images/wiring-diagrams/WD\_Pickup\_Color\_Codes.pdf, saved as docs/wiring-diagrams/handoff/online/seymour-duncan\_HSH\_5W\_1VppSPL/WD\_Pickup\_Color\_Codes.pdf) gives green = South start = Ground and says 'For ALL pickup types the bare wire goes to ground---ALWAYS'. Seymour Duncan's 2006 original of the one-tone sibling sheet (Seymour Duncan, 'HSH, 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 5 Way Switch, Push/Pull' (Copyright 2006 Seymour Duncan/Basslines), http://www.seymourduncan.com/pdfs/support/schematics/hsh\_1v\_1t\_5w\_pushpull.pdf (Wayback 2012 copy), saved as docs/wiring-diagrams/handoff/online/seymour-duncan\_HSH\_5W\_1VppSPL\_1T/wayback-oldsite-hsh\_1v\_1t\_5w\_pushpull.pdf (crop oldsite-2006-neck-green-bare-crop.png)) runs the neck green and bare together to the volume Solder spot. Those two leads (w4, w5) are added to the volume Solder spot (drawn here at the upper spot with the bridge green and bare; both spots are on the same casing); every other wire is as drawn on the current sheet.
- The blade's wired row carries, from its bottom lug: the common (to the volume's first lug), neck black, middle white, bridge black (the leads are labelled 'neck black', 'middle white', 'bridge black'). The blade's other row is empty.
- The neck red & white go together to the middle lug of one push/pull column and the bridge red & white to the middle lug of the other. The two lugs nearest the pot are jumpered together and wired to the volume Solder spot; the two lugs at the other end are empty.
- The volume carries two Solder spots. The upper one takes the bridge green and bare, the push/pull ground and the wire labelled 'Bridge ground'; the lower one takes the middle black, the volume's bent third lug and the wire to the jack Sleeve.
- There is no tone control on this sheet.
- The source does not number the blade's lugs or positions; the lugs are mapped by what they do (bridge, bridge + middle, middle, middle + neck, neck).
- NOTE printed on the sheet: If your neck & middle pickups are Fender pickups, then you will need to reverse the GREEN &BLACK wires on the Duncan.
- Legend: Solder = location for ground (earth) connections. Jack: Tip (hot output); Sleeve (ground). The inner, circular portion of the jack.
- Values printed: Volume 250k (or 500k).

## Connections

1. Neck green (added, not drawn on this sheet) → Volume upper Solder spot (case, green): Neck green to the volume Solder spot. Not drawn on the current sheet. Added per Seymour Duncan's colour-code sheet (green = ground; the bare wire goes to ground, always) and the 2006 original of the one-tone sibling sheet, which runs the neck green and bare to the volume Solder spot.
2. Neck bare (added, not drawn on this sheet) → Volume upper Solder spot (shield, bare): Neck bare to the volume Solder spot. Not drawn on the current sheet. Added per Seymour Duncan's colour-code sheet (green = ground; the bare wire goes to ground, always) and the 2006 original of the one-tone sibling sheet, which runs the neck green and bare to the volume Solder spot.
3. Middle black → Volume lower Solder spot (case, black): Middle black runs straight down past the bridge pickup and left to the volume Solder spot (lower spot).
4. Bridge green → Volume upper Solder spot (case, green): Bridge green to the volume Solder spot (upper spot).
5. Bridge bare → Volume upper Solder spot (shield, bare): Bridge bare (drawn grey beside the green) to the volume Solder spot (upper spot).
6. Push/pull bridge-pair column, lug nearest the pot → Volume upper Solder spot (case, black): Short black from the bridge-pair column's lug nearest the pot to the upper Solder spot on the volume casing.
7. Volume third lug → Volume lower Solder spot (case): The volume's third lug is drawn bent onto the casing under the lower Solder spot.
8. Volume lower Solder spot → Jack Sleeve (case, black): From the volume lower Solder spot down to the jack Sleeve (ground).
9. Bridge ground wire → Volume upper Solder spot (shield, black): Wire from the upper volume Solder spot down across the controls, labelled 'Bridge ground'.
10. Neck black → Blade wired row, second lug from the common (wire, black): Neck black leaves the neck cable on the right, runs left under the middle pickup and arcs over the blade to the wired row, second lug from the common.
11. Middle white → Blade wired row, third lug from the common (wire, white): Middle white (drawn as a white lead) loops over the blade to the wired row, third lug from the common.
12. Bridge black → Blade wired row, lug furthest from the common (wire, black): Bridge black leaves the bridge cable, runs up and over to the wired row, lug furthest from the common.
13. Blade wired row, bottom lug (common) → Volume first lug (input) (wire, black): From the wired row's bottom lug (common) down round the left of the blade to the volume's first lug.
14. Neck red → Push/pull neck-pair column, middle lug (wire, red): Neck red runs with its white down the right side and back to the middle lug of one push/pull column.
15. Neck white → Push/pull neck-pair column, middle lug (wire, white): Neck white with its red to the same push/pull middle lug.
16. Bridge red → Push/pull bridge-pair column, middle lug (wire, red): Bridge red runs with its white from the bridge cable to the middle lug of the other push/pull column.
17. Bridge white → Push/pull bridge-pair column, middle lug (wire, white): Bridge white with its red to the same push/pull middle lug.
18. Push/pull neck-pair column, lug nearest the pot → Push/pull bridge-pair column, lug nearest the pot (wire, black): Short black jumper between the two push/pull lugs nearest the pot.
19. Volume middle lug → Jack Tip (wire, black): From the volume's middle lug down and right to the jack Tip (hot output); it hops the ground wires it crosses.

## What each position does

- Position 1 · push: bridge: Bridge humbucker (both coils). Source: Knob down: both humbuckers' red & white pairs sit on the empty push/pull lugs, so each humbucker is full.
- Position 1 · pull: bridge split: Bridge humbucker (split to one coil). Source: Knob up: both red & white pairs join the jumpered, grounded push/pull lugs, splitting whichever humbucker is selected.
- Position 2 · push: bridge + middle: Middle single coil and Bridge humbucker (both coils) in parallel. Source: Knob down: both humbuckers' red & white pairs sit on the empty push/pull lugs, so each humbucker is full.
- Position 2 · pull: bridge split + middle: Middle single coil and Bridge humbucker (split to one coil) in parallel. Source: Knob up: both red & white pairs join the jumpered, grounded push/pull lugs, splitting whichever humbucker is selected.
- Position 3 · push: middle: Middle single coil. Source: Knob down: both humbuckers' red & white pairs sit on the empty push/pull lugs, so each humbucker is full.
- Position 3 · pull: middle: Middle single coil. Source: Knob up: both red & white pairs join the jumpered, grounded push/pull lugs, splitting whichever humbucker is selected.
- Position 4 · push: middle + neck: Neck humbucker (both coils) and Middle single coil in parallel. Source: Knob down: both humbuckers' red & white pairs sit on the empty push/pull lugs, so each humbucker is full.
- Position 4 · pull: middle + neck split: Neck humbucker (split to one coil) and Middle single coil in parallel. Source: Knob up: both red & white pairs join the jumpered, grounded push/pull lugs, splitting whichever humbucker is selected.
- Position 5 · push: neck: Neck humbucker (both coils). Source: Knob down: both humbuckers' red & white pairs sit on the empty push/pull lugs, so each humbucker is full.
- Position 5 · pull: neck split: Neck humbucker (split to one coil). Source: Knob up: both red & white pairs join the jumpered, grounded push/pull lugs, splitting whichever humbucker is selected.

- The neck humbucker's green and bare are not drawn on the current sheet; they are added from other Seymour Duncan sources (see notes).
- Which shaft position grounds the red & white pairs follows the usual push/pull behaviour (pulled joins the middle lugs to the lugs nearest the pot); the sheet does not say which way splits.
- The 250k value is used; the sheet also allows 500k.
- Custom tapers are not reproduced; pots are simulated as linear.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- Knob down: in each blade position the meter across the jack reads the full pickup or pickup pair selected.
- Knob up: both humbuckers' red & white read ground; positions 1 and 5 drop to one coil's reading.
- Neck green and bare read ground at the volume casing (the added leads).
