A four-conductor Seymour Duncan humbucker in its standard series wiring, through a 500k audio-taper volume to a mono jack. The red and white leads are joined and taped off.

## Parts and values

- Bridge pickup: Seymour Duncan Bridge Pickup; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- Volume 500k audio taper: Volume 500k Audio Taper; 500k; compatible example (CTS 500k Audio Pot)
- Output jack: Output Jack (tip and sleeve); compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge ground: Bridge ground wire; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Solder the red and white leads together and tape the joint off; it connects to nothing else.
- The pickup's black lead is the hot output in Seymour Duncan's colour code.

## Connections

1. Bridge ground → Volume casing (upper solder spot) (shield, black)
2. Pickup green → Volume casing (upper solder spot) (case, green)
3. Pickup bare shield → Volume casing (upper solder spot) (shield, bare)
4. Volume right lug → Volume casing (lower solder spot) (case): Lug bent onto the casing.
5. Jack sleeve → Volume casing (upper solder spot) (wire, black): Crosses the bridge ground wire without joining it.
6. Pickup red → Pickup white (insulated, red): Soldered together and taped off; touches nothing else.
7. Pickup black → Volume left lug (input) (wire, black)
8. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire, black)

## What each position does

- Always on: Bridge pickup (both coils). Source: One humbucker, both coils in series, no selector.

- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic pickup model, not a measurement of any specific Seymour Duncan model.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- With the volume up, the meter across the jack should read the full humbucker's resistance (both coils).
- The taped red–white joint should read open to ground.
