One single coil · No switch · One volume · No tone

The shortest useful harness: one single-coil pickup through a 250k volume pot to a mono output jack, with the bridge ground on the pot casing.

## Parts and values

- Single coil: Single coil (white and black leads); generic (Single-coil pickup (two-conductor))
- Volume 250k: Volume 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- Output jack: Output jack (tip and sleeve); compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Ground wire from bridge: ground wire from bridge; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- The grey “Solder” spots on the volume casing are the ground points: the pickup's black lead, the jack sleeve and the bridge ground all end there.
- The volume's right lug is bent over and soldered to the casing.

## Connections

1. Bridge ground → Volume casing (upper solder spot) (shield, black): Drawn leaving the page towards the bridge.
2. Pickup black → Volume casing (lower solder spot) (case, black)
3. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Lug bent onto the casing.
4. Volume casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
5. Pickup white → Volume left lug (input) (wire, white)
6. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire, black)

## What each position does

- Always on: Single coil. Source: One pickup, no selector.

- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- With the volume up, the meter across the jack should read the pickup's resistance.
- With the volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short.
