One Tele humbucker · One single coil · Three-way blade · Two volumes · No tone

A Tele with a Seymour Duncan Tele-bridge humbucker and a neck single coil on a three-way blade, each pickup on its own 250k volume and no tone control. The middle position runs both pickups in parallel.

## Parts and values

- Neck pickup: Seymour Duncan neck single coil (white and black leads); generic (Single-coil pickup (two-conductor))
- Bridge pickup: Seymour Duncan Tele bridge humbucker; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- 3-Way Switch: 3-Way Switch; compatible example (CRL 3-Way Blade)
- Neck Volume 250k: Neck Volume 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- Bridge Volume 250k: Bridge Volume 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- Output Jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge Ground: bridge ground wire; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- The neck single coil's white lead goes to the neck volume's input lug and its black lead to the neck volume's solder spot.
- The bridge humbucker's black lead goes to the bridge volume's input lug; its green and bare leads go to the bridge volume's solder spot.
- Red & White wires get soldered together and taped off: the humbucker's red and white leads are joined, taped, and touch nothing else.
- Legend: Solder = location for ground (earth) connections.
- Each volume's middle lug goes to a common lug on the switch: neck volume to the top-right lug, bridge volume to the bottom-left lug.
- Three short jumpers join four of the other switch lugs into one output, which runs to the jack tip. Two lugs stay empty.
- The two volume casings are joined, the bridge volume casing goes to the jack sleeve, and the bridge ground wire ends on the neck volume's solder spot.
- The source does not number the switch positions; the lugs are mapped by what they do (neck, both, bridge).
- Jack legend: Tip (hot output); Sleeve (ground), the inner, circular portion of the jack.

## Connections

1. Neck single coil black → Neck volume casing (case, black)
2. Bridge humbucker green → Bridge volume casing (case, green)
3. Neck volume right lug → Neck volume casing (case)
4. Bridge volume right lug → Bridge volume casing (case)
5. Neck volume casing → Bridge volume casing (case, black)
6. Bridge volume casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
7. Bridge ground wire → Neck volume casing (shield, black)
8. Bridge humbucker bare → Bridge volume casing (shield, bare)
9. Neck volume middle lug → Switch top-right lug (common) (wire, black)
10. Bridge volume middle lug → Switch bottom-left lug (common) (wire, black)
11. Switch top-left lug → Switch second left lug (bridge, black)
12. Switch second left lug → Switch third right lug (bridge, black)
13. Switch third right lug → Switch bottom-right lug (bridge, black)
14. Switch bottom-right lug → Jack tip (wire, black)
15. Neck single coil white → Neck volume left lug (input) (wire, white)
16. Bridge humbucker black (hot) → Bridge volume left lug (input) (wire, black)
17. Bridge humbucker red → Bridge humbucker white (insulated, red): Soldered together and taped off.

## What each position does

- Neck: Neck pickup.
- Neck + bridge: Neck pickup and Bridge pickup (both coils) in parallel.
- Bridge: Bridge pickup (both coils).

- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic pickup models, not a measurement of any specific Seymour Duncan model.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each blade position, the meter across the jack should read the selected pickup, or both in parallel in the middle.
- With the selected pickup's volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short.
- The taped red and white joint should read open to ground and to every other lead.
