# Tele with a neck humbucker and a bridge Tele stack

One humbucker · One Tele stack · Three-way blade · One volume · One tone

A Tele harness with a Seymour Duncan neck humbucker and a bridge Tele stack on a three-way blade, one 250k volume and one 250k tone with a .047 cap. The red and white leads of both pickups are joined and taped off, so each runs full; the middle position runs both in parallel.

## Parts and values

- Neck humbucker: Seymour Duncan humbucker (neck); generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- Bridge Tele stack: Seymour Duncan Tele stack (bridge); generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- 3-Way Switch: 3-Way Switch; compatible example (CRL 3-Way Blade)
- Volume 250k: Volume 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- Tone 250k: Tone 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- .047 cap: .047 cap (drawn green); 47nF; compatible example (Orange Drop .047µF)
- Output Jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge ground wire: bridge ground wire; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Red & White wires get soldered together and taped off: on both the humbucker and the Tele stack.
- The neck humbucker's black goes to the top lug on the right side of the switch; the Tele stack's black goes to the bottom lug on the left side.
- The green and bare leads of both pickups and the bridge ground wire all go to the volume's Solder spot.
- Jumpers join the top-left, second-left, third-right and bottom-right lugs; the bottom-right lug runs to the volume input. Two lugs stay empty.
- The source does not number the switch positions; the lugs are mapped by what they do (neck, both, bridge).
- The volume and tone Solder spots are joined by a wire drawn dashed in the source.
- Jack: Tip (hot output); Sleeve (ground). The inner, circular portion of the jack.

## Connections

1. Neck humbucker green → Volume casing (case, green)
2. Neck humbucker bare → Volume casing (shield, bare): Drawn grey beside the green.
3. Tele stack green → Volume casing (case, green)
4. Tele stack bare → Volume casing (shield, bare): Drawn grey beside the green.
5. Bridge ground wire → Volume casing (shield, black)
6. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Lug bent onto the casing.
7. .047 cap → Tone casing (case)
8. Volume casing → Tone casing (case): Drawn dashed in the source.
9. Tone casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
10. Neck humbucker black → Switch top-right lug (common) (wire, black): Arcs over the top of the switch.
11. Tele stack black → Switch bottom-left lug (common) (wire, black): Hops over the humbucker's green and bare.
12. Switch top-left lug → Switch second left lug (bridge, black)
13. Switch second left lug → Switch third right lug (bridge, black)
14. Switch third right lug → Switch bottom-right lug (bridge, black)
15. Switch bottom-right lug → Volume left lug (input) (wire, black): Hops over the ground leads.
16. Neck humbucker red → Neck humbucker white (insulated, red): Soldered together and taped off.
17. Tele stack red → Tele stack white (insulated, red): Soldered together and taped off.
18. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire, black)
19. Volume left lug → Tone left lug (wire, black)
20. Tone middle lug → .047 cap (wire)

## What each position does

- Neck: Neck humbucker (both coils). Source: Neck humbucker (positions are not printed on the sheet).
- Neck + bridge: Neck humbucker (both coils) and Bridge Tele stack (both coils) in parallel. Source: Both pickups together.
- Bridge: Bridge Tele stack (both coils). Source: Bridge Tele stack.

- The Tele stack is modelled by a generic four-conductor humbucker; hum cancelling and phase describe the generic models, not a measurement of the Tele stack.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each switch position, the meter across the jack should read the neck, both in parallel, or the bridge stack.
- Each taped red–white joint should read open to ground.
