Neck single coil + tapped bridge single coil · Five-way blade · One volume · One tone

A Telecaster with a tapped lead (bridge) pickup: a five-way blade gives the lead pickup's tap, tap plus neck, neck alone, neck plus full lead, and full lead. One 250k volume and one 250k tone with a .047 µF capacitor.

## Parts and values

- Neck pickup: Seymour Duncan neck pickup (white and black leads); generic (Single-coil pickup (two-conductor))
- Tapped lead pickup: Tapped lead pickup (green, white and black leads); generic (Tapped single-coil (three-conductor))
- 5-Way Switch: 5-Way Switch; compatible example (Oak Grigsby 5-Way)
- Volume 250k: Volume 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- Tone 250k: Tone 250k; 250k; compatible example (CTS 250k Audio Pot)
- .047 cap: .047 cap (drawn green); 47nF; compatible example (Orange Drop .047µF)
- Output Jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Ground wire from bridge: ground wire from bridge; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Source legend (5-Way Switch Settings): 1. Lead pickup (low output); 2. Lead pickup (low output) + neck pickup; 3. Neck pickup only; 4. Neck pickup + Lead pickup (full output); 5. Lead pickup (full output).
- Only the left row of the blade is wired; the right row is drawn empty.
- The blade lugs are not numbered on the sheet; they are mapped by what they do (top = positions 1-2, second = 2-4, third = 4-5, bottom = common), matching the legend.
- Lead colours are drawn, not printed: the sheet prints no lead names or colour words. It draws the lead pickup's three leads in green, white and black, and the neck pickup's two leads in white and black.
- Lead roles inferred by function, not stated on the sheet: lead pickup green = tap, white = full-coil hot, black = ground; neck white = hot, black = ground. The black leads go to the ground Solder spot. Green and white come from the blade's lug mapping: the top lug (green) is live in positions 1-2, which the legend calls 'low output', and the third lug (white) in positions 4-5, 'full output'.
- Source legend: the grey 'Solder' spot = location for ground (earth) connections.
- The volume's right lug is drawn bent up onto the casing under the Solder spot.
- The volume and tone Solder spots are joined by a line drawn dashed.

## Connections

1. Neck black → Volume casing (Solder) (case, black): The green wire and the switch-common black hop over it.
2. Lead pickup black → Volume casing (Solder) (case, black)
3. ground wire from bridge → Volume casing (Solder) (shield, black)
4. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Lug bent onto the casing.
5. .047 cap → Tone casing (Solder) (case, black)
6. Tone casing (Solder) → Jack Sleeve (wire, black)
7. Volume casing (Solder) → Tone casing (Solder) (case): Drawn dashed in the source.
8. Neck white → Switch left row, second lug (wire, white): Passes under the hop in the lead pickup's green wire.
9. Lead pickup green → Switch left row, top lug (wire, green): Drawn with hops over the neck white, the neck black and the bridge ground wire.
10. Lead pickup white → Switch left row, third lug (wire, white)
11. Switch left row, bottom lug → Volume left lug (input) (wire, black): Drawn hopping over the three ground wires.
12. Volume middle lug → Jack Tip (wire, black)
13. Volume left lug → Tone left lug (wire, black)
14. Tone middle lug → .047 cap (wire, black)

## What each position does

- Lead pickup (low output): Tapped lead pickup (split to one coil). Source: Lead pickup (low output)
- Lead pickup (low output) + neck: Neck pickup and Tapped lead pickup (split to one coil) in parallel. Source: Lead pickup (low output) + neck pickup
- Neck only: Neck pickup. Source: Neck pickup only
- Neck + lead pickup (full output): Neck pickup and Tapped lead pickup (both coils) in parallel. Source: Neck pickup + Lead pickup (full output)
- Lead pickup (full output): Tapped lead pickup (both coils). Source: Lead pickup (full output)

- Engine rule selectionReachesTip fails: the five-way blade's built-in slot expectations assume a neck/middle/bridge Strat layout, while this sheet uses the throws for tap, tap + neck, neck, neck + full and full. The engine's per-position pickup selection matches the source legend, but the board is published topology-only.
- The tapped single coil is modelled as two coil sections; the tap point's turns ratio and output level are not specified.
- Pickup resistance and magnet polarity are not specified, so no numeric meter readings or hum-cancelling claims are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each blade position, the meter across the jack should read the pickup(s) the legend names; position 1 should read lower than position 5.
- With the volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short.
