Two humbuckers · Three-way blade · One volume · One tone

Neck and bridge Seymour Duncan humbuckers on a three-way blade with one 500k volume, one 500k tone and a .047 µF capacitor. Each pickup's black lead goes to a switch common; the middle position runs both in parallel.

## Parts and values

- Neck Pickup: Seymour Duncan Neck Pickup; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- Bridge Pickup: Seymour Duncan Bridge Pickup; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- 3-Way Blade Switch: 3-Way Blade Switch; compatible example (CRL 3-Way Blade)
- Volume 500k: Volume 500k; 500k; compatible example (CTS 500k Audio Pot)
- Tone 500k: Tone 500k; 500k; compatible example (CTS 500k Audio Pot)
- Output Jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- .047 cap: .047 cap; 47nF; compatible example (Orange Drop .047µF)
- Bridge ground: Bridge ground wire; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Red & White wires get soldered together and taped off.
- Each pickup's black lead goes to a common lug on the switch; three short jumpers join four other lugs into one output to the volume.
- The source does not number the switch positions; the lugs are mapped by what they do (neck, both, bridge).
- A wire from the volume's input lug runs to the tone's left lug (tone drawn with lugs up); the tone middle lug takes the .047 cap to the tone casing.
- The bridge ground and the jack sleeve both end on the tone casing, which is linked to the volume casing.
- Solder = location for ground (earth) connections. Jack: Tip (hot output); Sleeve (ground), the inner, circular portion of the jack.

## Connections

1. Neck green → Volume casing (case, green)
2. Neck bare → Volume casing (shield, bare)
3. Bridge green → Volume casing (case, green)
4. Bridge bare → Volume casing (shield, bare)
5. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Lug bent onto the casing.
6. Tone casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
7. Bridge ground wire → Tone casing (shield, black)
8. .047 cap → Tone casing (case)
9. Tone casing → Volume casing (case, black)
10. Neck black → Switch top-right lug (common) (wire, black)
11. Bridge black → Switch bottom-left lug (common) (wire, black)
12. Switch top-left lug → Switch second left lug (bridge, black)
13. Switch second left lug → Switch third right lug (bridge, black)
14. Switch third right lug → Switch bottom-right lug (bridge, black)
15. Switch bottom-right lug → Volume left lug (input) (wire, black)
16. Neck red → Neck white (insulated, red): Soldered together and taped off.
17. Bridge red → Bridge white (insulated, red): Soldered together and taped off.
18. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire, black)
19. Volume input lug → Tone left lug (wire, black)
20. Tone middle lug → .047 cap (wire)

## What each position does

- Neck: Neck Pickup (both coils).
- Neck + bridge: Neck Pickup (both coils) and Bridge Pickup (both coils) in parallel.
- Bridge: Bridge Pickup (both coils).

- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic pickup models, not a measurement of any specific Seymour Duncan model.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each switch position, the meter across the jack should read the selected pickup, or both in parallel in the middle.
- With the volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short.
- Each taped red–white joint should read open to ground.
- Turning the tone down should load the selected pickup through the .047 µF capacitor.
