# Two humbuckers with a three-way blade and a push/pull coil split

Two humbuckers · Three-way blade · Push/pull volume · No tone

Neck and bridge Seymour Duncan humbuckers on a three-way blade with one 500k push/pull volume and no tone. The push/pull splits both pickups at once by grounding each pickup's red–white link.

## Parts and values

- Neck Pickup: Seymour Duncan Neck Pickup; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- Bridge Pickup: Seymour Duncan Bridge Pickup; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, Seymour Duncan colours))
- 3-Way Blade Switch: 3 Way Blade; compatible example (CRL 3-Way Blade)
- Volume 500k push/pull split: Volume 500k with Split Switch; 500k; compatible example (500k Push-Pull DPDT)
- Output Jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge ground: Bridge ground wire; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- The source titles the push/pull as a coil split switch that splits both pickups.
- Each pickup's red and white leads are soldered together onto a middle lug of the push/pull switch: bridge on the left, neck on the right. They are not taped off.
- The two push/pull lugs nearest the pot are jumpered together and wired to the volume casing; the two lugs furthest from the pot stay empty.
- Each pickup's black lead goes to a common lug on the blade; three short jumpers join four other lugs into one output that loops round to the volume's input lug.
- The bridge ground wire and the jack sleeve both end on the volume casing.
- The source legend marks the grey 'Solder' spots as the location for ground (earth) connections.
- The source does not number the blade positions; the lugs are mapped by what they do (neck, both, bridge).

## Connections

1. Neck green → Volume casing (case, green)
2. Neck bare → Volume casing (shield, bare): Drawn grey beside the green.
3. Bridge green → Volume casing (case, green)
4. Bridge bare → Volume casing (shield, bare): Drawn grey beside the green.
5. Push/pull bottom left lug → Volume casing (case, black)
6. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Lug bent onto the lower solder spot.
7. Volume casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
8. Bridge ground wire → Volume casing (shield, black)
9. Neck black → Blade top row, first lug (common) (wire, black)
10. Bridge black → Blade bottom row, fourth lug (common) (wire, black)
11. Blade bottom row, first lug → Blade bottom row, second lug (bridge, black)
12. Blade bottom row, second lug → Blade top row, third lug (bridge, black)
13. Blade top row, third lug → Blade top row, fourth lug (bridge, black)
14. Blade top row, fourth lug → Volume left lug (input) (wire, black)
15. Neck white → Push/pull middle right lug (wire, white)
16. Neck red → Push/pull middle right lug (wire, red): Shares the lug with the neck white lead.
17. Bridge white → Push/pull middle left lug (wire, white)
18. Bridge red → Push/pull middle left lug (wire, red): Shares the lug with the bridge white lead.
19. Push/pull bottom left lug → Push/pull bottom right lug (bridge, black)
20. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire, black)

## What each position does

- Neck, knob down: full humbucker: Neck Pickup (both coils).
- Neck + bridge, knob down: both humbuckers: Neck Pickup (both coils) and Bridge Pickup (both coils) in parallel.
- Bridge, knob down: full humbucker: Bridge Pickup (both coils).
- Neck, knob pulled: single coil: Neck Pickup (split to one coil). Source: The split switch splits both pickups.
- Neck + bridge, knob pulled: both split: Neck Pickup (split to one coil) and Bridge Pickup (split to one coil) in parallel. Source: The split switch splits both pickups.
- Bridge, knob pulled: single coil: Bridge Pickup (split to one coil). Source: The split switch splits both pickups.

- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic pickup models, not a measurement of any specific Seymour Duncan model.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.
- The source does not say which knob position splits; this follows the usual push/pull behaviour (pulled joins the middle lugs to the lugs nearest the pot).

## Check before plugging in

- Knob down: in each blade position the meter across the jack reads the selected humbucker, or both in parallel in the middle.
- Knob up: each reading drops to roughly one coil's resistance.
- With the volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short in every position.
