# Nashville Telecaster wiring

Three single coils · Five-way blade · One volume · One tone

Tonerider's Nashville Tele: neck, middle and bridge single coils on one side of a five-way blade, then one 250k volume and one 250k tone with a .022 µF capacitor. Positions 2 and 4 run two pickups in parallel.

## Specific to this wiring

- Only the four lugs on one side of the blade are used: from the top, the bridge white, the middle yellow, the neck yellow and the output to the volume. The other side stays empty.
- All three pickup black leads and the wire from the bridge ground end on one solder spot on the volume casing.
- The source does not label the switch lugs or number the positions; the lugs are mapped by what they do, with position 1 as the bridge.

## Connections

1. Neck black → Volume casing (case, black)
2. Middle black → Volume casing (case, black)
3. Bridge black → Volume casing (case, black)
4. From Bridge Ground → Volume casing (shield, black)
5. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Lug bent onto the casing.
6. .022µf cap → Tone casing (case)
7. Volume casing → Tone casing (case, black): Runs from the volume's bent-over lug down the right side.
8. Tone casing → Jack sleeve (wire, black)
9. Bridge white → Switch top lug (wire, white)
10. Middle yellow → Switch second lug (wire, yellow)
11. Neck yellow → Switch third lug (wire, yellow)
12. Switch bottom lug (common) → Volume left lug (input) (wire, black)
13. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire, white)
14. Volume left lug → Tone left lug (wire, black)
15. Tone middle lug → .022µf cap (wire)

## What each position does

- Bridge: Bridge pickup.
- Bridge + middle: Middle pickup and Bridge pickup in parallel.
- Middle: Middle pickup.
- Middle + neck: Neck pickup and Middle pickup in parallel.
- Neck: Neck pickup.

- Pickup resistance and magnet polarity are not specified, so no numeric meter readings or hum-cancelling claims are given.

## Check before plugging in

- In each blade position, the meter across the jack should read the selected pickup, or two pickups in parallel in positions 2 and 4.
- With the volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short.
