# One humbucker with one volume and one tone

One humbucker · No switch · One volume · One tone

A four-conductor humbucker in series through a 500kA volume and a 500kA tone with a .022 µF capacitor, to a mono jack. Tonerider draws it for all its four-conductor AC and H series humbuckers.

- .022µf: .022µf capacitor (drawn orange); 22nF; compatible example (Orange Drop .022µF)
- Output jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge ground: Ground Wire from Bridge; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Solder the black and white leads together and insulate the joint with heat shrink or electrical tape.
- Tonerider's legend defines a ground symbol, but this sheet draws every ground as a wire.

## Connections

1. Ground Wire from Bridge → Volume casing (shield)
2. Pickup green → Volume casing (case, green)
3. Bare Shield Wire → Volume casing (shield, bare)
4. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case): Short black link.
5. Tone casing → Volume casing (case)
6. Volume casing → Jack sleeve (wire): Ground Wire to Output Jack Sleeve Lug.
7. .022µf capacitor → Tone casing (case)
8. Pickup black → Pickup white (insulated, black): Soldered together and insulated; touches nothing else.
9. Pickup red → Volume left lug (input) (wire, red)
10. Volume left lug → Tone left lug (wire)
11. Tone middle lug → .022µf capacitor (wire)
12. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire): Signal/Hot Wire to Output Jack Tip Lug.

## What each position does

- Always on: Humbucker (both coils). Source: One humbucker, both coils in series, no selector.

- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic pickup model, not a measurement of every Tonerider humbucker the sheet covers.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- With both pots up, the meter across the jack should read the humbucker's resistance.
- The taped black–white joint should read open to ground.
