One humbucker · One volume

A four-conductor humbucker in series through one 500kA volume to a mono jack. Tonerider draws it for all its four-conductor AC and H series humbuckers.

## Parts and values

- Humbucker: Humbucker; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, DiMarzio colours))
- Volume 500kA: Volume 500kA; 500k; compatible example (CTS 500k Audio Pot)
- Output jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Bridge ground: Ground Wire from Bridge; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Solder the black and white leads together and insulate the joint with heat shrink or electrical tape.
- Every ground is drawn as a wire: the green, the bare shield, the bridge ground and the jack sleeve all end on the volume casing.

## Connections

1. Bridge ground → Volume casing (shield)
2. Humbucker green → Volume casing (case, green)
3. Humbucker bare shield → Volume casing (shield, bare): Bare shield wire.
4. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case)
5. Volume casing → Jack sleeve (case): Ground from volume to jack.
6. Humbucker black → Humbucker white (insulated, black): Soldered together and insulated.
7. Humbucker red → Volume left lug (input) (wire, red)
8. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire): Signal output to jack.

## What each position does

- 1: Humbucker (both coils). Source: Single pickup.

- Hum cancelling and phase describe the generic pickup model, not a measurement of every Tonerider humbucker the sheet covers.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- With the volume up, the meter across the jack should read the humbucker's resistance.
- The taped black–white joint should read open to ground.
