# Rebel 90 neck and humbucker bridge with a three-way toggle, push/pull split volume and one tone

Rebel 90 + humbucker · Three-way toggle · Push/pull volume (bridge split) · One tone

Tonerider's 1 Humbucker, 1 Rebel 90, 1 Volume (Push-Pull), 1 Tone harness: a Rebel 90 in the neck and a four-conductor humbucker in the bridge on a three-way toggle, then a 500kA push/pull volume and a 500kA tone with a .022 µF capacitor. Pulling the volume knob grounds the bridge black–white link so that pickup splits to the slug coil.

## Parts and values

- Neck Pickup (Rebel 90): Neck Pickup (Rebel 90); generic (Single-coil pickup (two-conductor))
- Bridge Pickup: Bridge Pickup; generic (Humbucker (four-conductor, DiMarzio colours))
- 3-Way Toggle: 3-Way Toggle; compatible example (Switchcraft 3-Way Toggle)
- Volume 500kA (push-pull): Volume 500kA (push-pull); 500k; compatible example (500k Push-Pull DPDT)
- Tone 500kA: Tone 500kA; 500k; compatible example (CTS 500k Audio Pot)
- .022µf: .022µf capacitor (drawn orange); 22nF; compatible example (Orange Drop .022µF)
- Output Jack: Output Jack; compatible example (Switchcraft \#11)
- Ground Wire from Bridge: Ground Wire from Bridge; generic (Bridge ground wire)

## Specific to this wiring

- Switch Positions printed on the sheet: 'UP: Split (Slug Coil)', 'DOWN: Humbucker'.
- The bridge black and white leads are soldered together onto the push/pull's left middle lug. The left lug nearest the pot has a short black link to a solder spot on the volume casing; the top row and the right column stay empty.
- The neck pickup's white lead goes to the toggle's upper outer lug; its black lead and its 'Bare Shield Wire' both go to the toggle's top (frame) lug.
- The bridge humbucker's red lead goes to the toggle's lower outer lug; the toggle's middle lug runs to the volume's left lug, which also feeds the tone's left lug.
- The bridge humbucker's green lead and 'Bare Shield Wire' end on one solder spot on the volume casing.
- The volume's middle lug goes to the jack tip; its right lug has a short link to the volume casing.
- The tone's middle lug goes through the .022µf capacitor to the tone casing; its right lug is drawn empty.
- Legend printed on the sheet: the ground symbol means 'Connection to Ground'. The source marks the toggle frame lug, the volume casing, the tone casing and the jack sleeve with ground symbols; here they are all wired to the volume casing. That is a routing choice, not a solder point shown in the source.
- The 'Ground Wire from Bridge' ends on the volume casing.
- Pickup series printed on the sheet: all Rebel 90 pickups, with 'AC' and 'H' series humbuckers.
- The toggle tags are not labelled in the source, so they are mapped by what each does.
- The bridge red lead is drawn crossing the grey toggle-to-volume wire below the toggle with no solder dot.

## Connections

1. Push/pull left lug nearest the pot → Volume casing (case, black)
2. Bridge green → Volume casing (case, green)
3. Bridge bare shield → Volume casing (shield, bare): Same solder spot as the green lead.
4. Neck black and bare shield → Toggle frame lug (wire, black): The black lead and the bare shield are drawn side by side to the same lug; one ground wire represents both.
5. Toggle frame lug → Ground (Volume casing) (case): The source shows a ground symbol.
6. Volume right lug → Volume casing (case, black): Short link.
7. .022µf capacitor → Tone casing (case)
8. Tone casing → Ground (Volume casing) (case): The source shows a ground symbol.
9. Jack sleeve → Ground (Volume casing) (wire): The source shows a ground symbol.
10. Ground Wire from Bridge → Volume casing (case): The source also shows a ground symbol at this solder spot.
11. Bridge red → Toggle lower outer lug (wire, red)
12. Neck white → Toggle upper outer lug (wire, white)
13. Toggle middle lug → Volume left lug (wire)
14. Bridge black → Push/pull left middle lug (wire, black)
15. Bridge white → Push/pull left middle lug (wire, white): Shares the lug with the bridge black.
16. Volume middle lug → Jack tip (wire)
17. Volume left lug → Tone left lug (wire)
18. Tone middle lug → .022µf capacitor (wire)

## What each position does

- Neck, knob down: Rebel 90: Neck Pickup (Rebel 90). Source: DOWN: Humbucker.
- Both, knob down: Rebel 90 + full humbucker: Neck Pickup (Rebel 90) and Bridge Pickup (both coils) in parallel. Source: DOWN: Humbucker.
- Bridge, knob down: full humbucker: Bridge Pickup (both coils). Source: DOWN: Humbucker.
- Neck, knob pulled: Rebel 90: Neck Pickup (Rebel 90). Source: UP: Split (Slug Coil). Neck is unchanged.
- Both, knob pulled: Rebel 90 + split bridge: Neck Pickup (Rebel 90) and Bridge Pickup (split to one coil) in parallel. Source: UP: Split (Slug Coil).
- Bridge, knob pulled: slug coil: Bridge Pickup (split to one coil). Source: UP: Split (Slug Coil).

- The Rebel 90 is simulated as a generic two-conductor single coil; hum and phase describe that generic model, not the Rebel 90.
- Hum cancelling and phase for the humbucker describe the generic pickup model, not a measurement of the Tonerider humbucker.
- The source says the split keeps the slug coil; the generic model does not know which physical coil is the slug, so it only shows that one coil remains.
- The source does not label the toggle positions; they follow the usual neck, both, bridge order.
- Pickup resistance is not specified, so no numeric meter readings are given.

## Check before plugging in

- Knob down: in each toggle position the meter across the jack reads the Rebel 90, both pickups in parallel, or the full humbucker.
- Knob up: the bridge reading drops to roughly one coil's resistance; the neck alone is unchanged.
- With the volume at zero, tip and sleeve should read as a short in every position.
