Gibson's 490R has the traditional characteristics of the original Patent Applied For pickups with two modifications: four-conductor wiring for coil-splitting and wax potting to minimise microphonics. Official: PAF tonal characteristics with a slight increase in upper midrange. Alnico 2, average DC resistance 8 kΩ.
