Essential storage
The app uses storage for sign-in, security and local product preferences.
A cookie named gw_consent_v2 remembers your analytics choice
for 180 days. On guitarwiring.app, this choice is shared with the app
subdomain. It contains preferences and a timestamp, not your account
identity.
If you choose a shopping country for retailer links, the website and the app each remember it in this browser's local storage. It is never sent to us, and choosing one does not mean a retailer ships there.
Basic website traffic counts
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on the public website to count page views and visits, see referring sites and popular pages, and measure loading performance. It runs independently of your optional Google Analytics choice. Cloudflare says this service does not use cookies, local storage or fingerprinting to identify visitors. These totals are not a count of identifiable people or a history of your activity across websites.
Cloudflare receives technical information with these requests, including the page address and browser information. Its Web Analytics reports do not log URL query strings. We do not add account details, private projects or custom events, and we do not install this beacon in the app editor. See Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Searches on the website that return no results are counted anonymously, by the text searched and the day only, so we can decide which diagrams to add.
Optional Google Analytics
When Google Analytics is configured, we load it only after you accept
analytics. It measures page visits using browser and device information
and analytics cookies, including cookies beginning with _ga.
We do not include your email address, private board names, account
identifiers or URL query strings in our page-view events. The first page
of a visit records the website that linked to us, without its page
address, and any campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium and
utm_campaign). Retailer-link
clicks record only the retailer, the catalog part, whether the link was a
product page or a search, and the shopping country you picked. Google
advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled.
You can reject analytics and continue using the website and app. Withdrawing consent stops our Google Analytics collection and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies. It does not remove information already collected by Google.
Read Google’s privacy policy for information about its processing.
Your account and projects
Account information, saved boards, personal parts and course progress are used to provide the features you choose. Stripe processes subscriptions and payments. This public catalog does not publish your personal inventory or private projects.
The Tinkercaster team can open your boards read-only, to help with support and to improve the product; every such view is logged, and it never changes your board. We look at how the app is used (boards, parts, checks, guided builds and plan limits) to decide what to build next, and we show this to the team by account name, never by email address. If you accepted analytics, the app also records when you print or export a board and when you reach a plan limit; we keep those records for a year. Answers you give to the occasional one-question feedback prompt are kept with the board they were about.
Support chat
Chat loads only when you choose “Need a hand?”. Our self-hosted Chatwoot service uses browser storage to maintain your conversation and receives the messages and contact details you choose to send. We do not automatically send your account identity or private projects to chat. Support works independently of your analytics preference.
