“Example part” means any part with the same value and lugs will do; the source does not name a brand. “Generic” stands in for an unspecified pickup: check your own pickup's lead colours before you solder.

Specific to this wiring

  • No pot values are printed (only .047 cap); 250k audio stand-ins match common Strat practice and are disclosed in simulationScope.
  • Two tones share one .047 capacitor: tone-2 wiper jumps to tone-1 capacitor lug.
  • On the humbucker, red and white wires get soldered together and taped off.
  • Solder = location for ground (earth) connections.
  • Switch tags mapped by function where unlabelled.

Connections

In soldering order: grounds first, then the switch, the pickups and the signal path.

Checked with the Tinkercaster wiring engine against the switching the source describes.

  • Pot values are not printed on the source; 250k audio-taper stand-ins matching common Strat practice are used and treated as linear by the simulator.

Before you solder

Ticks are kept in this browser only, as a reminder. They are not a check of your joints. New to soldering? Read the soldering cheat sheet.

Check before plugging in

Measure across the output jack with a multimeter on its resistance range. No exact readings are given where the source does not specify the pickups.
